How to Run a PRS

Preparations

1. Form Your Group Gather a group of three or more people.

2. Decide where and how often you’ll meet (weekly, biweekly, etc.).

3. Download the Public Reading of Scripture App on your mobile In the App, choose your listening plan, and  the audio Bible you’ll use

4. Ensure everyone has the same Bible, printed Bible or on a device

5. Choose a facilitator for the session

6. Assign a Facilitator for the session.

Tip: Consider rotating the host role among members.

Role of the Facilitator:

Welcome all attendees and then briefly (1-2 minutes) talk about the Old Testament passage that will be read. [e.g., “Today, we will listen to (insert Bible reference). For more context, (refer to the Scripture Introductions in the guide). Now, we will begin in prayer with a Psalm.”]

1. Play a Psalm as an opening prayer, followed by the selected Old Testament passage.

2. Invite participants to pause for a minute to reflect silently. Then briefly introduce (1-2 minutes) the New Testament passage.

3. Play the selected New Testament passage.

4. Then invite participants to pause for a minute to reflect silently.

5. Listen to a Psalm as a closing prayer.

6. Share and discuss your reflections on the passages read.

[Optional] Thank the participants for attending, and encourage them to invite their friends for the next session.
